SkyTeamAbout KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the flag carrier of the Netherlands and one of the oldest continuously-operating airlines in the world, founded in 1919. The airline merged with Air France in 2004 to form Air France-KLM Group and is a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance. KLM is headquartered at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), which functions as one of the busiest transfer hubs in Western Europe. The fleet comprises roughly 110 aircraft including Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 for short-haul European routes plus Boeing 777-200ER, 777-300ER, and 787-9/-10 Dreamliner for long-haul service. KLM does not currently operate direct service from Tbilisi; Georgian travelers heading to Amsterdam typically connect through Istanbul (Turkish Airlines), Frankfurt or Munich (Lufthansa), or Vienna (Austrian Airlines). Direct seasonal Tbilisi to Amsterdam service on Georgian Airways provides an alternative without alliance miles. As a SkyTeam member, KLM miles earned from a connecting itinerary credit to Flying Blue, Delta SkyMiles, or any other SkyTeam partner account. From Amsterdam Schiphol, onward KLM connections cover the entire North American and Asian network including 14 US cities, Toronto, and major destinations across Africa, South America, and East Asia. Flying Blue is the joint KLM-Air France loyalty program.
